1. Total Hip Replacement:

Mr Mohanty performs all types of hip replacements as dictated by the clinical needs. He performs cemented, uncemented and hybrid type of total hip replacements.

2. Hip Resurfacing:

Mr Mohanty performs hip resurfacing in young adults with severe wear and tear of the hip joint. He is one of the few surgeons in Wales who is capable of performing computer guided hip resurfacing and routinely carries out this operation.

3. Hip Impingement surgery:

Mr Mohanty carries out assessment and treatment of hip impingement syndrome. He routinely takes on patients with painful catching, locking and other mechanical symptoms in their hips. Mr Mohanty performs open surgical procedure in the form of surgical dislocation and reshaping of the femoral head (Ball of the ball and socket) along with repair of labrum in appropriate cases.

4. Total Knee Replacement:

Mr. Mohanty performs a vast number of total knee replacements in his practice. This includes cemented, uncemented, fixed bearing and mobile bearing types. Mr Mohanty also performs revision of total knee replacements in selected cases of failed primary joint replacements.

5. Partial Knee Replacements:

Mr. Mohanty performs partial knee replacements in patients with only selective arthritis of one compartment of knee. He routinely performs Oxford uni-compartmental knee replacements and isolated replacement of the joint between the knee cap and the lower end of the thigh bone (Patello-femoral joint).

6. Percutaneous Fusion of Sacroiliac Joints:

Mr Mohanty specializes in percutaneous, minimally invasive stabilization and fusion of painful and unstable of sacroiliac joints. He has published his technique in peer reviewed journal and is one of few surgeons in the country with expertise in this specialized technique of using a cage through a small skin incision.

7. Pelvic Surgery:

Mr Mohanty is the only surgeon in Cardiff with a special interest in surgical treatment of pelvic conditions. He deals with acute fractures of the pelvis and hip socket and also carries out complex delayed reconstruction following trauma. Mr Mohanty has a special expertise in dealing with post- pregnancy pelvic instability and has carried out successful stabilisation procedures in women with such painful instability of pelvis following child birth.

8. Elbow Replacements:

Mr Mohanty performs elbow replacements for arthritic conditions of the elbow joint. This includes wear and tear of elbow following severe fractures or other degenerative conditions.

9. Key Hole Surgery:

Mr Mohanty carries out key hole operation of the knee joint (arthroscopy) routinely in his clinical practice.

10. Fracture Surgery and post traumatic reconstruction:

Mr Mohanty is a fellowship-trained specialist in fracture surgery and deals in treatment of all type of complex fractures. Mr Mohanty carries out delayed reconstruction of fractures and deals with un healed fractures (non union) and correction of mal-united fractures.

Mr Mohanty deals with all types of general orthopaedic conditions of the body and provides opinion and treatment for such conditions.
